Samsung made number one company behind Apple in the global smartphone market
In the fourth quarter of 2017, Samsung has overtook American tech company Apple in terms of global smartphone sales.
ew Delhi: Smartphone's global sales have declined by 4.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017, while Samsung remains at number one place in the market with a 18.2 percent stake. This information was given in Gartner's report.
The report said that sales of South Korean giants have declined 3.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017 on year-on-year basis, but despite this, the company is at number one in the global smartphone market, surpassing its rival Apple.
Gartner said, "The success of Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus models has helped improve Samsung's average sales prices."
Samsung will launch the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this Sunday.
"The launch of new flagship devices will increase Samsung's smartphones in the first quarter of 2018," the report said.
Overall, in the fourth quarter of the year 2017, sales of global smartphones dropped 5.6 percent compared to sales in the fourth quarter of 2016 and 40.8 million smartphones were sold. For the first time since 2004, smartphone sales have declined for the first time
